Position summary

The Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) manager will be responsible for developing and overseeing environmental, social, and corporate governance policies and procedures. The incumbent will provide technical expertise on key issues related to environmental and social impact assessment and on sustainability risks in the design, preparation, implementation, and supervision of ACCV operations taking into consideration best industry practices and standards. The ESG manager will coordinate with executive teams to present optimal solutions which are aligned with the ESG objectives of ACCV’s blue-chip corporate clients and investors, including effective carbon reduction and reporting capabilities to support the clients’/investors global targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • ESG Policy and Strategy
    • Vulnerability assessments and climate risk resilience assessments.
    • Develop ES execution roadmaps; sustainability (ESG) strategy.
    • Support CEO, COO to develop ESG Policy and execution plans.
    • Supply chain management, PV model supply chains mapping, to secure sustainability objectives at Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.
    • Develop and implement an Environmental Social Management system
  • Sustainability reporting according to standards, including GRI 2021, SDGs, and IFC performance standards.
  • GHG accounting, reporting (ISO 14068-1-2-3); carbon footprint (ISO 14067); carbon neutrality (PAS 2060/ISO 14068); Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms (CBAM).
  • GHG reduction and avoided project management; decarbonization strategy.
  • Carbon offsets and carbon credits (registration, verification, and issuance) according to the Global Carbon Council (GCS), Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), and Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).
  • Environment Attributes certificate registration, trading, and offset.
  • Management of sustainability-linked loan agreements and green loans, including negotiation, execution, monitoring, and KPIs reporting.

Regulatory Role

  • Monitor the effectiveness of implementation of the appropriate ESMS system. And provide for their updating in line with changes in laws, regulations and corporate directives.
  • Review corporate activities and ensure compliance with E&S Policies, Management Plans and Procedures.
  • Provide guidance and advice to the HR teams on the requirements of identifying and implementing local E&S related laws and regulations and monitor the compliance.
  • Support the Management in driving the education, communication, training, and implementation of the ESMS across the company in all operational areas, including its associated business activities, contractor, supply chains, where relevant

Environmental, Health and Safety Role

  • Occupational Health and Safety management system:

Establish an Occupational Health and Safety management plan in line with IFC EHS Guidelines (2007) and IFC PS (2012), Vietnam Law.

  • OHS management implementing plans and procedures:
    • Development, implementing the Heath Safety and Environmental management plan.
    • Develop, implement and maintain well on the Permit to work (PTW) procedure to secure all EPC, contractor full compliance at all sites of RTS projects.
    • Develop, implement and maintain the procedure for high risk works (i.e., working at height, hand tools and electrical equipment, lifting works, heavy equipment, hot works, logout/ tagout, etc.)
    • Review and approval EHS management plan, Works safe Method, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment (RA), and Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) from EPC contractor, OM contractor.
  • Emergency Response:

Review and approve EPC’s emergency preparedness plan, support OM team to collaborate with the Factory Owner to prepare and get approval by Factory or and Firefighting Police on Fire Fighting preventing Plan.

  • Incident and Accident Investigation & Proactive Action:

Investigate and analyze incidents, accidents, prepare detailed reports, and share lessons learned. Develop and allocate resources to implement proactive plans aimed at improving safety and eliminating risks.

  • Site Management:
    • Regularly conducting site patrols and safety walk-throughs at RTS projects to check on EPC compliance as required by EHS management plan.
    • Lead on EHS weekly meeting with EPC contractor, Consultant Contractor.
    • Representative of ACC to join and lead on EHS matter with the Factory.
    • EHS internal Lead auditor at RTS projects during Construction period.

Waste Reduction and GHG Mitigation:

  • Oversee initiatives for waste reduction, reuse, and recycling, alongside strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

EHS Auditing and Supply Chain Compliance:

  • Develop and implement EHS audit plans for internal and external assessments and manage environmental and social risks in supply chains (Tier 1 and Tier 2).

Risk Management Role

  • Develop the appropriate strategies to address the E&S risks and their potential impacts of potential projects.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain inspection records and investigate complaints and suspected violations.
  • Monitor follow-up actions in cases where violations were found, and reviews compliance monitoring reports.

Coordination with the Business Development Team

  • Develop good understanding of the ESG experience/objectives/commitments of potential clients that ACCV’s business development teams are targeting and assist the BD teams to present the best possible renewable energy/energy management/carbon reduction solutions to the potential clients.
  • Assist ACCV to develop ESG after-sales products (for example ESG report generation) as value added services that ACCV may offer its clients.
  • Assist ACCV executives to present, monitor and report ESG qualifications and capabilities to ACCV’s investors and partners.

Community Initiatives (CSR):

  • Manage CSR activities such as reforestation programs, and waste reduction initiatives, community training, charities and donating.
  • Participate in the CSR event with Owner Factories, Clients, and Government.

Budget Management and team management:

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for environmental and social initiatives.

Trainer:

  • Provide training for employees, contractors, and suppliers on EHS.

Reporting:

  • ESG and CSR reporting.
  • Reduction of CO2 emissions report
  • OHS report to Authorities
  • Report as required by Lenders.
Required skills and qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and above related work experience in Environment, Health and Safety management.
  • At least 5 years working and familiar with IFC Standards (IFC EHS 2007, IFC PS 2012)
  • Working knowledge in ESMS and will be a plus if has knowledge in Carbon Footprint Reduction, Responsible Investing, Environmental Discharges, EHS Auditing Techniques etc.
  • Experience implementing OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) programs, managing emergency response incidents, implemented corrective actions, conducting or leading training in applicable OSHA areas and evaluating programs, issuing recommendations etc.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits base on RoHS, ISO14001, ISO 45001 or other similar industrial standards are plus.
  • Greenhouse gas emission reporting, accounting and familiar with GHG protocol, ISO 14064, ISO 14067, ISO 14068, etc.
  • Efficient in the use of word, PowerPoint, excel.
  • Familiar with Sustainability standards, frameworks is required such as GRI, TCFD, IFC, SDGs.
  • Good training & communication skill, capable of developing and delivering ESG related training programs.
  • Fluency in the English
  • Good networking skills to liaise with ACCV investors and shareholders.
  • Good communication and hosting skills and leadership in CSR activities.
  • Professional in reporting (ESG, EHS, Sustainability, etc.)
