Senior Financial Analyst – Project Finance & Modeling

Position summary

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in developing and maintaining financial models to support renewable energy project evaluation, investment decisions, and project financing. While the position includes financial reporting and analysis responsibilities, its primary focus is on building dynamic financial models, understanding project-specific assumptions (e.g., IRR, CAPEX, debt structuring), and supporting the project development cycle. Familiarity with operational practices in the renewable energy sector — such as COD, billing, compliance with FIT regimes or tax incentives — is considered a strong advantage. Proficiency in VBA is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain complex Excel-based financial models to support investment analysis, scenario planning, and project financing (leveraged and unleveraged IRR, DSCR, etc.).
  • Conduct financial and commercial analysis on project viability, including cost structures, escalation clauses, debt repayment, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Collaborate with BD, Technical, Legal, and Finance teams to incorporate accurate and practical assumptions into models, reflecting real project operations and contractual terms (e.g., PPAs, ELAs, EPC terms).
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial model outputs to support decision-making.
  • Support the preparation of investment committee presentations, financial summaries for Board meetings, and materials for lenders/investors.
  • (Nice to have) Improve and automate financial models using VBA for faster scenario switching and reporting.
  • Conduct periodic financial statement analysis, budget actual variance analysis, and forecasting to support ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Assist with compliance-related financial processes (e.g., lease classification, tax incentives, COD qualification documentation, billing verification).
  • Coordinate with auditors and act as point of contact for financial queries during due diligence or annual audits.
Required skills and qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 4–5 years of experience in financial modeling, project finance, or infrastructure Prior exposure to renewable energy is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to build financial models from scratch, with strong understanding of IRR, NPV, DSCR, leverage, debt tenor, grace period, and other financial metrics.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including advanced formula combinations; experience with VBA is a strong plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to synthesize complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with Vietnam’s renewable energy regulations (e.g., FIT, COD, tax incentives) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both English and Vietnamese.
  • Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
